Having set their alarm clocks Friedrich, Ed, Melanie & Carole set off to the Granger Bay Hotel School for the 7am breakfast meeting of the Rotary Club Waterfront (www.waterfrontrotary.org), and what an interesting meeting it was!

Welcoming early tea or coffee gave the members & visitors a chance to network and find their seats.

Having lit the peace candle to promote peace in the educational institutions, toasting Rotary and after saying grace, a healthy cold or warm breakfast was served.

Welcomed by President Piet, Am Kap’s President Friedrich briefly introduced our club and extended a warm invitation to the Waterfront Club to discuss areas of future co -operation. As RC Waterfront are involved in marshalling the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on Sunday there were many organisation issues to be announced as well as other matters of Club business including attendance make ups, birthdays etc.

The speaker of the morning Ruediger Helm highlighted the wage differential measurements between South Africa and other countries and discussed the process already set in place by Nelson Mandela’s government in the constitution to progressively address the huge disparities.

Winding up the meeting, after thanking the speaker a raffle was drawn & the winner received a bottle of wine. Presidents Piet & Friedrich both look forward to more contact & co-operation between their respective clubs.
